Coupons…yay! January 8, 2010

I’ve started couponing again this past week, because well…it saves a ton of money. I don’t have pics of what I got at Meijer because we’ve used a lot of it already, but I saved about $25 there. I got 2 gallons of milk, 4 boxes of different types of Cheerios, 2 kid’s Campbell’s soup, 2 Select Harvest soups, 2 Lysol kitchen cleaners, 8 Yoplait yogurts, and 2 V8 Splashes…for $14. Not too bad, huh? Then I also got 4 more boxes of Special K cereal at Target for $1.14/each.

Then today, I went to CVS and Walgreens. CVS was a little higher than I anticipated because I had to substitute a few more expensive things, but that’s ok. All together, I spent 16.88, but I still have $8 Extra Care Bucks that I earned at CVS, which spend like cash there, so my actual out of pocket was about $9. This is the highest out of pocket cost I should have for a while since I now have the ECB’s to roll over from week to week.

What $16 will get ya…

1 Nivea skin firming lotion

6 Oust air sanitizers

2 Irish Spring body washes

2 Palmolive dish soaps

6 Soy Joy bars

1 Sally Hanson cuticle lotions

1 Cottonelle 84 ct wipes

3 Revlon eye shadows

2 Colgate Max White toothpastes

And one fantastic little helper. ;)

Not pictured – 1 bag of peanut M&Ms to keep children happy.

I saved $77.00, which is over 82%. Woo hoo!

I have the most gorgeous kids ever. January 8, 2010

Just sayin…even if they do only wear jammies and undies.

Cookies as Bribery November 25, 2009

I never thought I would stoop to bribery to get my way. Then I had children!

My kids are the hardest subjects to photograph, hands down. They have a bad case of Photographer’s Kid Syndrome. You know, because I never put the camera in their faces or anything. :) So, in order to get this year’s Christmas pics, I promised Anna a special treat if she cooperated. She did awesome for our little 15 minute minishoot. I got the shot I wanted, minimal arguing, so we went home to bake cookies. Funny thing is, she didn’t even want to eat them.

She may be the next Julia Child with her pearls and all.

The oven getting ready to work its magic.

Mmm, cookie dough!
No, mommy, I’m not eating the cookie dough!

Neatly arranged. One of them with a little smiley face.

Done!

Dorothy and her Lion November 3, 2009

I’m sure most of you have seen these already, but I wanted to share anyway, so just bear with me. :) Anna and Ben had a blast trick or treating on Saturday. It was all Anna was talking about all week, and she was just beyond herself when it was actually time to go. We had a great time with some friends parading around a few neighborhoods.

Ben was loving on the suckers, so much so that he had to have two at a time!

Since I haven’t been great at being wordless, it’s just titled Wednesday. :)

I love this…out of focus and all…

But Princesses Don’t Get Sick July 22, 2009

My dear Princess,
Last night was hard. As I held you in my arms and your entire tiny body just shook, I had to choke back tears. That was the most sick you have ever been, and all I desired to do was to make it all go away. You looked up at me with your big, steel blue eyes and whimpered, “Tummy hurt, mommy, my tummy hurt.”
Tears streamed down your cheeks as we had to change the sheets…and your dress (because despite being desperately sick, a princess is never caught in anything but) yet again.
As I rocked you to sleep and your body finally was able to rest, I prayed to God that this was nothing more serious than a small bout of the flu. Although I had to be strong for you, I couldn’t help but totally fall apart inside at even the slightest chance it could be more serious because it didn’t seem to stop.
Thank God it finally stopped. You seem to think that you’re back to 100% this morning, wearing your crown adorned with pink fuzzies and your sparkly shoes, which happen to be like Dorothy’s…please, sweetheart, slow down a little. I know there is so much to see and so much to do, but it will wait for you. After all, the world awaits for her majesty.
I love you, and we will be able to get through anything, always.
